Getting to Know Alsace

Come join us and explore the wonderful wines of Hugel & Fils.

Hugel is a family company founded in 1639 and located in the beautiful village of Riquewihr, Alsace, France.  In the picturesque land of pure whites, Hugel is a reference for Alsace wines. 

Start off the evening with a tasting of Alsace cheeses, hosted by Allison Spurrell of les amis du FROMAGE. 

The tasting will be followed by dinner.

Award Winning Wines & Cheeses

The first in a new format of cheese and wine tastings with les amis du FROMAGE and Au Petit Chavignol.  These early tastings will start at 5 pm and last just over an hour, and will focus on just a few wines and carefully selected cheeses. 

This tasting will focus on wines and cheeses that have achieve award winning status.

Ports with Ty the Wine Guy

Continuing in our "Early Series", this tasting will start at 5 pm and last just over an hour, and will focus on just a few wines and carefully selected cheeses. 

Join Tyler Dawson AKA "Ty the Wine Guy" of Liberty Wine Merchants and Allison Spurrell of les amis du FROMAGE.  Come and taste their carefully selected pairings of cheese and port, ask questions, and have fun.

A 3G Vancouverite, TY the WINE GUY has libation in his blood as he is the youngest grandson of George C. Reifel, a pioneer in domestic and international beverage markets. 

Tyler is an Enotainment Wine Pro with 25+ years of beverage management experience, 18years as a Wine Retail Ops Specialist and Manager/Buyer with Liberty Wine Merchants. He is Director/Educator of The Liberty Wine School.

He is a The Wine Consultant for La Quercia Restaurant and author of two Quick Reference Wine Guides.

Viva Italia

Michelle Bouffard and Michaela Morris from House Wine join Allison Spurrell from les amis du FROMAGE for an evening of Vino & Formaggio Italiano.  From Pecorino to Robiola and Toma, you’ll be amazed at how many different styles of cheese this country has to offer.  To give you the full experience, the house wine gals will introduce you to an array of unique and characterful Italian wines including Friulano and Dolcetto.  Italy has never been so charming.

Black Hills Estate Winery

Join us where we will pair five vintages of Nota Bene from Black Hills Estate Winery with a variety of cheeses and charcuterie, including some local BC favorites.  David Lancelot, local wine guru and BC wine buyer for Marquis Wine Cellars will join us and offer some insight into these wines.

New World Wines - Old World Cheese

You aren't going to find any French reds or Mosel Rieslings at this tasting. New world wines have shifted in popularity to center stage.  Taste some of Allison's favourite classic cheeses, and see how they pair with these new world white and red wines.

Riesling Revolution

Enjoy the irresistible charms of Riesling, the most noble and expressive of white wine grape varietals.  Taste Allison's favourite versatile wine, and explore some pairings from bone dry to noble sweet with some of here wonderful cheese recommendations.
